Video Support System set to debut at AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ Thailand 2024

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) will mark a significant milestone in its quest to uphold the highest standards of officiating when it introduces the Video Support (VS) system at the AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ Thailand 2024, set to take place from April 17 to 28.

In a bid to ensure that Asian referees are well-versed in the latest technological advancements in officiating, the Confederation conducted the AFC Elite Futsal Referees Seminar in 2023, with the specific intention of familiarizing its match officials with innovations such as the VS system, underscoring the AFC's determination to provide tailor-made support to its match officials.

Islamic Republic of Iran's bid for a record-extending 13th title will kick off in Group D with the tournament scheduled for April 17-28, 2024.

Kuala Lumpur: Asia’s best futsal sides will learn their route to glory for the AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ Thailand 2024 at the official Final Draw ceremony on Thursday, December 14 at 3pm at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur.

The 17th edition of the tournament will be held from April 17 to 28, 2024 and is set to feature 16 teams including Thailand, who automatically qualified as hosts and are staging it for a third time. The rest of the cast was determined after a qualifying campaign in October that featured 30 teams.

China PR complete Thailand 2024 cast

Bangkok: China PR defeated Hong Kong, China 5-2 on Friday to become the final team to qualify for the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Thailand 2024.

China PR won the two-leg tie 11-2 on aggregate, with Group A reduced to a two-team affair following the withdrawal of Turkmenistan. Thailand competed for exposure with their results not counting towards the standings.

Qualifiers - Group F: Kuwait defeat Bahrain to cap perfect campaign

Manama: Kuwait capped a perfect AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ Thailand 2024 Qualifiers campaign, claiming their third win on the trot with a 5-3 victory against Bahrain in their final Group F match on Wednesday.

In an earlier match, Timor-Leste picked themselves up from two earlier defeats to end the Qualifiers on a positive note by defeating Brunei Darussalam 8-0.

Qualifiers - Group B: Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia clinch qualification

Dammam: Afghanistan were in fantastic form as they defeated Macau 18-2 to secure their place in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ Thailand 2024 Finals as the top side from Group B of the Qualifiers on Wednesday.

Saudi Arabia finished second after they beat Indonesia 3-2 to also advance.

Bangkok: Thailand maintained their winning run in Group A of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ Thailand 2024 Qualifiers after they beat Hong Kong, China 6-0 on Wednesday.

As hosts of the Finals, Thailand's matches do not count towards the final standings but the home side still put in an impressive shift over the two matches, adding to their earlier win over China PR.

Dushanbe: Tajikistan ended their campaign with a perfect record after defeating Myanmar 3-0 in Group E of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ Thailand 2024 Qualifiers on Wednesday.

The victory was Tajikistan’s third with both teams advancing to the Finals while Imad Fahjan was Palestine’s hero, scoring with a minute left on the clock to claim the three points in their 6-5 win over India for a third-placed finish.

Taipei City: Japan booked their spot in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ Thailand 2024 as the Qualifiers Group H winners after defeating Chinese Taipei 3-0 on Wednesday.

The four-time champions topped the group with a perfect record of two wins, with Australia also advancing to the Finals.

Khusniddin Nishonov’s brace laid the foundation for Uzbekistan to take home the three points at the Samo Sports Complex.

In the other game, Malaysia concluded their campaign with a 5-2 win over Cambodia.
